Step away from the buzz of Roppongi and discover Midtown Garden, a beautifully designed green space tucked inside the Tokyo Midtown complex.

A Green Oasis in the Heart of Roppongi
After spending time at the shops, galleries, and restaurants inside Tokyo Midtown, we stepped into Midtown Garden for a quiet break. Just a short walk from the busy streets of Roppongi, the garden felt calm and open.
Midtown Garden combines landscaping, walking paths, and public art in a way that reflects both traditional and modern design. It’s not a large space, but it’s a pleasant place to pause and recharge.
Why Midtown Garden Feels Special

What we liked most about Midtown Garden was how well it mixed nature and design. It is more than just open space. It brings together traditional Japanese landscaping and modern touches in a calm, inviting way.
Stone paths meander along small streams, sculptures peek out from among the trees, and seasonal flowers bring color year-round. The wide lawn is perfect for sitting, enjoying a snack, or relaxing in the shade.
As a family, we really appreciated having plenty of space for the kids to run around while we lounged nearby with iced drinks. Even on a weekend, it did not feel crowded.
Art in the Garden
One of Midtown Garden’s defining features is its outdoor sculpture collection. Pieces are placed throughout the space, creating a casual, open-air museum experience.
Winter Illuminations and Holiday Cheer

During the winter, Midtown Garden transforms for Midtown Christmas. It’s absolutely one of our favorite Tokyo illumination spots. If you’re visiting Tokyo in late November or December, definitely check the event schedule.
How to Get to Midtown Garden
Train
- Midtown Garden is located within the Tokyo Midtown complex, which is directly connected to Roppongi Station. If you are on the Toei Oedo Line, take Exit 8 for direct underground access. From the station, the garden is about a 5-minute walk through the complex.
- Total travel time: 15–25 minutes from central Tokyo.
Is Midtown Garden Worth Visiting?
If you’re craving some greenery while in Roppongi (all the skyscrapers and concrete can feel overwhelming after a while), Midtown Garden provides a nice escape, especially if you have young kids. It brings a slower pace and a quieter side of the city. The garden isn’t large or flashy, but that’s part of its charm.
