Set against the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo skyline, the Statue of Liberty in Odaiba offers a fun, photogenic stop during a day of waterfront sightseeing.

A Playful Landmark on Tokyo Bay
Odaiba isn’t your typical Tokyo sightseeing stop. Instead of centuries-old temples or shrines, this man-made island in Tokyo Bay is filled with shopping malls, entertainment complexes, futuristic architecture, and family-friendly attractions. You can see a life-sized Unicorn Gundam, spend hours in sprawling arcades, or walk along sandy beaches with city views.
One of the most popular photo spots is the Statue of Liberty replica. While it’s much smaller than the original in New York, its setting is spectacular and unexpected. With Rainbow Bridge stretching across the bay and Tokyo Tower in the distance, it makes for one of the most memorable skyline backdrops in the city.
Why There’s a Statue of Liberty in Odaiba
This replica was first installed in 1998 as part of a temporary event celebrating the “Year of France in Japan.” It was meant to symbolize friendship between the two countries, but it became so popular that Tokyo decided to make it a permanent fixture.
Standing about 12.25 meters tall—roughly one-seventh the height of the New York statue—it may not be imposing in size, but its location along the Odaiba Seaside Park boardwalk makes it stand out. Sunset is especially beautiful here, with the bridge and skyline glowing in the evening light.
More Than Just a Photo Spot

Visiting the Odaiba Statue of Liberty is simple with no tickets or queues, you can just walk right up. We enjoyed taking photos, feeling the sea breeze, and then headed off to explore the rest of Odaiba. It’s easy to pair this stop with other attractions in the area without feeling rushed.
