Tobu World Square brings the world to Tochigi! Over 100 iconic landmarks are recreated in 1/25th scale, blending fun, learning, and architectural wonders.

A miniature village at Nikko Tobu World Square features winding paths, small traditional thatched-roof houses, lush green trees, and tiny figurines, all set against a backdrop of forested hills.

What Is Tobu World Square?

Tobu World Square is a miniature theme park just a short trip from Kinugawa Onsen in Tochigi Prefecture. The park features over 100 incredibly detailed 1/25th-scale replicas of famous landmarks from around the world. From Japan’s castles to Egypt’s pyramids, each model is crafted with remarkable precision. Walking through the park feels like taking a whirlwind world tour in just a few hours.

Even if you’ve seen some of these sites in real life, seeing them recreated in miniature lets you notice details you might have missed before.

Park Layout and Zones

A detailed miniature model at Nikko Tobu World Square displays St. Peter’s Basilica and Square, with tiny crowds and nearby famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, all set against green mountains and a cloudy sky.

The park is designed as a one-way loop that passes through six themed zones. This makes it easy to see everything without missing a single landmark.

Japan Zone

This area is divided into modern and traditional sections. The modern side highlights buildings like Tokyo Dome and the Diet Building, while the traditional side features historic sites such as Todai-ji Temple, Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji, and Himeji Castle.

America Zone

Here you’ll find the Statue of Liberty, the White House, and New York City streets filled with playful touches like murals and street performers.

Egypt Zone

The smallest of the areas, but striking nonetheless. Models include the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and Abu Simbel.

Europe Zone

Our family’s favorite section. The Vatican, with its tiny statues and lively atmosphere, was especially impressive. The Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, and the Colosseum are also highlights.

Asia Zone

This section showcases major cultural landmarks such as Angkor Wat, The Forbidden City, and the Great Wall of China.

Welcome Square

Both the entry and exit point, this plaza includes restaurants, gift shops, and a miniature block-style map of the park.

Food and Fun Inside the Park

A Japanese bento tray inspired by Nikko Tobu World Square, featuring soba noodles, tempura vegetables and shrimp, tofu garnished with seaweed and pickled ginger, green dipping sauce, and assorted small side dishes.

One of the quirkiest photo spots is the oversized food displays where visitors can pose inside giant bowls and plates. Our kids couldn’t get enough of these silly stops.

For lunch, we ate at Heian – Nikko Yuba Restaurant inside the park. The specialty here is yuba, or tofu skin, a local Nikko delicacy. We tried the yuba soba bento with noodles, tempura, and small side dishes. The yuba was creamy, delicate, and delicious with soy sauce or wasabi.

A man and two children pose playfully in front of miniature replicas of the Great Pyramid and Sphinx at Nikko Tobu World Square. The children mimic the Sphinx’s pose, smiling, while the man crouches nearby with a backpack.

We were pleasantly surprised by how much fun Tobu World Square turned out to be. The craftsmanship of the models is impressive, and the park is easy to explore with children. Between the international landmarks, quirky photo opportunities, and local food specialties, it offers a lighthearted contrast to Nikko’s historical sites.
