Get a behind-the-scenes look at how Orion Beer is brewed, then enjoy a tasting in the Orion Happy Park.

A Fun and Refreshing Brewery Stop in Okinawa
When we planned our trip to northern Okinawa, we added Orion Happy Park in Nago City to the list—not just for the beer, but for the chance to peek behind the curtain of one of Japan’s most beloved regional breweries. It turned out to be a perfect mid-day stop: educational, laid-back, and just the right amount of fun for both grown-ups and kids.
Orion Beer may not be as widely known outside Japan as Asahi or Sapporo, but in Okinawa, it’s king. And this brewery is the only place in the world where it’s made.
What Makes Orion Beer Special

Orion started brewing in 1957 and quickly became a local favorite. Its light, crisp, American-style lager is made for hot weather and pairs well with Okinawan dishes like goya champuru and taco rice. Best of all, every can and bottle is brewed here as there’s no other Orion factory in the world.
What to Expect on the Brewery Tour

The guided tour takes about 40 minutes and walks you through each step of the brewing process from grain selection to bottling. We followed along with the help of English signage and a helpful printed guide.
Even though the tour is conducted in Japanese, everything was easy to understand visually. Our kids especially enjoyed watching the machines and conveyors in action.
At the end of the tour, adults (who are not driving) get to sample up to two freshly poured Orion beers in the tasting lounge. Seasonal and limited-edition brews are often included. For drivers and kids, there are soft drinks and Orion’s non-alcoholic beer options.

Gift Shop & Gallery
Before leaving, we browsed the on-site shop for Orion merchandise and exclusive beer varieties. There’s also a small gallery that shares the company’s history and shows how Orion supports local culture and community efforts.
Family-Friendly Experience
Even though it’s a brewery, the experience felt very family-friendly. The tour is smooth and stroller-friendly, and there are soft drinks available for kids. It was a nice balance of adult enjoyment and child curiosity.
