Why Stay in Furano

Furano is less than two hours from Sapporo by car, so many people visit as a day trip. But after a full day exploring Farm Tomita and Shikisai no Oka, we didn’t want to spend the evening driving back. Staying in Furano gave us time to slow down, enjoy a hearty dinner, and start fresh the next morning.

Our Stay at New Furano Prince Hotel

A cozy New Furano Prince Hotel room with two single beds, a round wooden table, a curved sectional sofa with cushions, and warm lighting on wood-paneled walls. A TV and amenities are on a small desk nearby.

Set in a quiet forest just outside town, the New Furano Prince Hotel is one of the area’s largest resorts. It caters to both summer flower visitors and winter skiers, making it a convenient base year-round.

What We Liked

  • Scenic views: Our east-facing room overlooked the Furano countryside, and waking up to sunrise over the fields was beautiful.
  • Spacious suite: The suite comfortably fit our family of four, with beds added in the living room.
  • Lavish buffet dinner: Our plan included a buffet with Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. The highlights were the sushi bar and all-you-can-eat crab.
  • Onsen access: The in-house hot spring felt great after a long day outdoors.

A Few Downsides

At the New Furano Prince Hotel, a buffet area features a Chinese cuisine station with food displays under glass, decorative brickwork, and a large ornament overhead. A person in a purple shirt walks by, and the sign reads Chinese cuisine in English and Chinese.
  • Dated decor: The interior looks a little old, but it was clean and functional.
  • Onsen location: To reach the hot spring, we had to walk through the lobby and the gift shop which was not the best experience.

Bonus Activities

  • Ningle Terrace: A glowing forest path lined with tiny artisan cabins. Walking here after dinner felt magical.
  • Tree Adventure Furano: A zipline and obstacle course set in the surrounding woods, fun for kids and adults alike.

Is New Furano Prince Hotel Worth Staying At?

A tidy hotel room at New Furano Prince Hotel with two single beds pushed together, each with white sheets and dark covers. A desk and chair sit by a round mirror and window, with two wall-mounted lamps above the beds.

Yes. While you can see Furano’s flower fields in a day, staying overnight lets you relax and enjoy the area at a slower pace. We liked the combination of buffet dining, onsen access, and activities like Ningle Terrace. The decor isn’t the newest, but the comfort, location, and value make it a solid choice to stay in Furano.
