Tempozan Marketplace is where you can enjoy retro dining, playful attractions, and local shopping—a spot we love visiting in Osaka’s Tempozan Harbor Village.

What Is Tempozan Marketplace?
Tempozan Marketplace sits at the center of Tempozan Harbor Village, right next to the aquarium and giant Ferris wheel. More than just a shopping mall, it blends Osaka’s love of food, nostalgia, and family entertainment.
Here’s what you’ll find inside:
- Over 30 shops selling souvenirs, clothing, and quirky gifts
- Naniwa Kuishinbo Yokocho, a retro food hall designed like 1960s Osaka
- LEGOLAND Discovery Center Osaka, an indoor play space for kids
Fun fact: the name Tempozan comes from Japan’s smallest mountain, Mt. Tempozan, a 4.5-meter-high manmade hill built in 1831 to help guide ships into Osaka’s port.
Shopping at Tempozan

Browsing the marketplace is part of the fun. Shops range from Osaka-themed souvenirs to character merchandise and traditional crafts. Our kids loved the ninja shop, where you can try on costumes and browse ninja gear.
LEGOLAND Discovery Center Osaka
Families with younger children will appreciate having LEGOLAND inside the marketplace. It’s a separate ticketed attraction, but being located right in the building makes it convenient to combine with shopping and dining.
Entertainment and Events
The plaza and rotunda stage are designed with a festival atmosphere. Depending on the day, you might find live music, cosplay gatherings, or seasonal fairs taking place. It adds an energetic touch to the shopping and dining experience.
Naniwa Kuishinbo Yokocho (なにわ食いしんぼ横丁) – Osaka’s Retro Food Street

The highlight of Tempozan Marketplace for us was Naniwa Kuishinbo Yokocho, a food hall that recreates the feel of Showa-era Osaka. Walking through the lantern-lit alleys feels like stepping back into the 1960s.
What’s on the Menu?
With more than 20 food stalls, this is one of the best spots to sample Osaka’s comfort foods in one place:
- Takoyaki from Aiduya (会津屋): said to be the inventors of this iconic dish
- Omurice from Hokkyokusei (北極星): credited as the birthplace of Japan’s ketchup omelet rice
- Ikayaki from Momodani Ikayakiya (桃谷いかやき屋): Osaka’s famous grilled squid pancake snack
- Okonomiyaki and kushikatsu: casual Osaka specialties
- Classic sweets: matcha soft serve and kakigori (shaved ice)
What makes this hall special is that many stalls are branches of long-established Osaka restaurants, so the food is rooted in real local culinary traditions rather than just theme park recreations.
How to Get to Tempozan Marketplace

The most direct way to get to the marketplace is by train. Ride the Osaka Metro Chuo Line to Osakako Station.
From the station, take either Exit 1 or Exit 2. From there, it is a straightforward 5 to 8 minute walk. Just follow the signs toward Tempozan Harbor Village and the large Ferris wheel. The marketplace is part of this harbor complex.
