Soaring above Hisaya-odori Park, Nagoya TV Tower offers breathtaking views, dazzling night lights, and a look into Japan’s broadcast history.

Japan’s First TV Broadcasting Tower
Nagoya TV Tower was built in 1954 as the country’s first television broadcasting tower. At 180 meters tall, it quickly became a proud symbol of Japan’s postwar modernization and Nagoya’s technological spirit. Its elegant steel design resembles the Eiffel Tower, but it has its own uniquely Japanese charm.
Locals now know it as the Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER after a major renovation in 2020, but most people still affectionately call it the TV Tower. It stands right in the middle of Hisaya-odori Park, a beautifully redeveloped green space in Sakae, one of Nagoya’s liveliest districts.
Stunning Views from the Sky Balcony

We headed up to the Sky Balcony, which sits 100 meters above ground, for a full 360-degree view of the city. On a clear day, visitors can spot Nagoya Port, Atsuta Shrine, and even Mount Ontake in the far distance.
It can be windy up top, so make sure to bring a jacket or secure hats and scarves before going out onto the open-air deck!
Visit at Night for the Lights

Nagoya TV Tower becomes even more enchanting after dark. Thanks to its 2020 LED lighting upgrade, the tower now glows in vibrant, ever-changing colors that reflect the seasons, holidays, and special events.
We stopped by in the evening, and the lights shimmered across the park’s surface, casting colorful reflections on the walkways and trees.
A Modern Touch in Hisaya-odori Park

The area around the tower has been completely revitalized. Hisaya-odori Park is now a great place to walk, relax, or grab food from pop-up stands and nearby cafes.
It’s also close to other fun stops like Oasis 21 and the Nagoya City Science Museum, so you can easily plan a full afternoon in the area.
