A classic spot for oden, Kuroyuri serves comforting flavors, fresh local ingredients, and warm hospitality just steps from the train station.

Kaga-Style Oden
We’re always excited to find oden specialty restaurants in Japan since they’re not as common as other spots. So when we discovered Kuroyuri (黒百合), a third-generation family-run oden restaurant tucked inside Kanazawa Station’s Anto East shopping area, we knew we had to try it.
Kanazawa has a long-standing connection to traditional Japanese cuisine, and oden is one of the region’s most beloved comfort foods. Unlike the darker, soy-based broths found in other parts of Japan, Kaga-style oden features a light, sweet dashi made from kelp and dried fish. Each ingredient simmers slowly, soaking up the delicate, refined flavor of the broth.
A Warm Meal at Kuroyuri

Kuroyuri offers about 20 types of oden, and we started with the daikon, egg, and fish cakes, then tried their regional specialties like ganmodoki (tofu fritters), cabbage rolls, and grilled tofu skin. Every bite felt thoughtful and familiar, like something made with care. The broth was light and clear, yet incredibly rich in flavor—a true highlight of the meal.
Besides oden, the menu features other Kaga-area dishes such as local sashimi, seasonal salads, and grilled skewers. Everything we tried was well-balanced and satisfying. And with most items priced between ¥400 and ¥600, it felt like a great value too.
How to Get to Kuroyuri (黒百合)
On Foot
- From any platform at Kanazawa Station, head toward the East Exit and follow signs to the Anto East shopping area.
- Kuroyuri is on the first floor, just a 2-minute walk from the ticket gates.
Pro Tip: Visit just after 5 PM or during lunch hours to avoid long lines during peak dinner time.
Our Thoughts on Kuroyuri

Not everyone loves oden, but if you’re a fan, we highly recommend trying Kuroyuri. Its location inside Kanazawa Station makes it especially convenient, and the depth of flavor in every bite had us wishing we could stay longer.
If you’re passing through Kanazawa and craving a local, satisfying meal, Kuroyuri is well worth the stop. It’s a comforting taste of the region, served one simmered bowl at a time.
