Shiroi Koibito Park is a family-friendly chocolate theme park in Sapporo, where factory tours, hands-on workshops, gardens, and sweet treats come together.

A whimsical scene at Shiroi Koibito Park features a candy-themed house with a dome roof, colorful treats, chefs, playful animal statues, and a treehouse surrounded by lush greenery and a bright sky.

A Sweet Escape in Sapporo

If you’ve ever browsed a souvenir shop in Japan, chances are you’ve seen the pastel tins or boxes of Shiroi Koibito cookies. These delicate langue de chat biscuits, filled with white or milk chocolate, are one of Japan’s most famous souvenirs. In Sapporo, Ishiya, the company behind the cookies, has turned its success into something magical, a theme park that combines chocolate history and interactive fun.

We visited with our kids, and what we thought would be a quick stop turned into a full afternoon of play, learning, and plenty of sweets.

What You’ll Find at Shiroi Koibito Park

Workers in white uniforms and hairnets operate machinery to prepare and align rows of cookies on a production line in a brightly lit food processing factory, reminiscent of the precision seen at Shiroi Koibito Park.

Factory Viewing

One of the highlights was peering through glass windows at the production line. Watching the cookies move from baking to packaging was surprisingly mesmerizing, and it gave us a new appreciation for the craftsmanship behind each tin.

Chocolate Museum

Exhibits walk visitors through the history of chocolate and showcase vintage packaging and advertising. It’s part education, part nostalgia.

Gardens and Play Areas

Two young children, a boy and a girl, lean out of a blue playhouse door at Shiroi Koibito Park. The boy smiles while the girl sticks out her tongue playfully. Flowers bloom in a window box beside them, with a brick path outside.

Outside, seasonal flower gardens and whimsical displays make for fun photo opportunities. Younger children will enjoy the small rides, storybook characters, and the miniature train.

Cafes and Shops

The on-site cafes serve exclusive desserts, and we couldn’t resist trying the Shiroi Koibito soft serve. Made with Hokkaido milk, it was rich, smooth, and perfectly sweet. Of course, we also left with more than a few boxes of cookies.
